Small but Mighty: Introducing the M4 Thruster

We’re excited to announce the latest addition to our product line, the M4 thruster.

The M4 is a hydrazine monopropellant thruster ideal for providing attitude and positioning control for smaller spacecraft. Marking a sizable milestone for this engine, the M4 has recently been hot fired at Agile Space’s test facility in Durango CO. Agile Space is committed to propulsion innovation and developing new technology with over a dozen thrusters in different stages of development.

The M4 is a 4N thruster that can be used for a wide range of missions that require a high level of control, including RPOD (Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking), apogee maneuvers, refueling, satellite servicing, on-orbit inspection, resupplying, and space domain awareness missions, among others.

The M4 is a terrific addition to the Agile product line, giving our customers more options and flexibility when designing their spacecraft,” said Charlie Garcia, Special Projects Chief Engineer of Agile Space Industries.  “It provides a key capability that our customers need and expect, truly making Agile a ‘one stop shop’ for propulsion systems. Coupled with our customization services, the M4 has a short lead time for manufacturing, reduced weight, competitive price point and ability to pair with other Agile systems, making it a compact thruster delivering outsized performance. We’re excited to bring it to market.

The M4 is manufactured using Agile’s proprietary additive manufacturing process and uses a high temperature chrome alloy that has been optimized for 3D printing. This process allows Agile to manufacture M4 thrusters quickly and efficiently– in as little as eight weeks from order. Our process results in significant weight reduction when compared to the traditional processes of legacy manufacturers.
